INTO THE WILD (2007) Starring: Emile Hirsch, Vince Vaughn, Catherine Keener Directed by: Sean Penn

Synopsis: Based on a true story. After graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gives his entire life’s savings to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters who shape his life.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND: INTO THE WILD is a beautiful poetic film set in the backdrop of a frozen Alaska, following a mans journey of self discovery. While that journey might not be that pleasant at all times, it leads to a life of love and great relationships. Emile Hirsch plays the unforgettable role of Christopher McCandless. It’s not an award winning performance, but the character and the real life of Christopher McCandless is. Hal Holbrook plays the role of Ron Franz, which got him an Academy Award nomination. Holbrook and Hirsch have an incredible relationship in the film, one that Hirsch’s father in the film, played by William Hurt could not fill. Buy it, it’s well worth the money.
