SWIMMING WITH SHARKS (1994) Starring: Kevin Spacey, Frank Whaley, Benicio Del Toro

SYNOPSIS: Movie producer Buddy Ackerman is one of Hollywood's most powerful men who's quickly on the rise for someone else's higher profile job. But that doesn't make Buddy such a nice guy, which his very naive assistant Guy is just about to learn. As he barely endures and tolerates Buddy's daily rituals of constant abuse and humiliation in front of the office, Guy has his own agenda to rise within Hollywood's ranks and Buddy is his only ticket there. But when Guy learns a potentially explosive personal secret involving both he, his producer girlfriend and his boss, he's decided he's had just enough. Now Buddy is about to be on a much harsher receiving end of Guy's wrath when he's been kidnapped, held hostage, and relentlessly tortured in his own home, with both men having no idea how this night is going to end when the cards will finally be on the table.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND: SWIMMING WITH SHARKS is a hilarious film about a real life film producer, whose name we’ll omit for many reasons. But, in this situation, Spacey hires a new assistant (Whaley), and the hits just go on and on. Crazy as it sounds, this is almost how the film industry might start for any newcomer. SWIMMING WITH SHARKS is filled with laughter, and it’ll keep you entertained all the way through. Spacey plays a very realistic movie producer, but Whaley is a bit dull. It’s a good time and worth a watch. Take a peek at the trailer below…

INTO THE WILD (2007) Starring: Emile Hirsch, Vince Vaughn, Catherine Keener Directed by: Sean Penn

Synopsis: Based on a true story. After graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gives his entire life’s savings to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters who shape his life.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND: INTO THE WILD is a beautiful poetic film set in the backdrop of a frozen Alaska, following a mans journey of self discovery. While that journey might not be that pleasant at all times, it leads to a life of love and great relationships. Emile Hirsch plays the unforgettable role of Christopher McCandless. It’s not an award winning performance, but the character and the real life of Christopher McCandless is. Hal Holbrook plays the role of Ron Franz, which got him an Academy Award nomination. Holbrook and Hirsch have an incredible relationship in the film, one that Hirsch’s father in the film, played by William Hurt could not fill. Buy it, it’s well worth the money.

LAND OF THE LOST (2009) Starring: Will Ferrell, Anna Friel & Danny McBride

HIGHLY RECOMMEND - Will Ferrell pulls is off again in this remake from the 1970's popular TV show of the same name. Danny McBride adds his tasteless humor to the film as well. My only issues, the Sleestacks didn't really have the same scary appeal that they had in the TV show. There are numerous sexual innuendo's that parents might not want younger kids to see.

Synopsis: On his latest expedition, Dr. Rick Marshall (Ferrell) is sucked into a space-time vortex alongside his research assistant (Friel) and a redneck survivalist (McBride). In this alternate universe, the trio make friends with a primate named Chaka (Taccone), their only ally in a world full of dinosaurs and other fantastic creatures. Can they all make it back to our world alive, and if so: Will Dr. Marshall can go from zero to hero with his discoveries?

THE INSIDER (1999) Starring: Russell Crowe & Al Pacino

This film tells the true story of Jeffrey Wigand, a former big tobacco executive, who decided to appear on the CBS-TV News show "60 Minutes." As matter of conscience partially prodded by producer Lowell Bergman, he revealed that, the tobacco industry was not only aware that cigarettes are addictive & harmful, but deliberately worked on increasing that addictiveness. Unfortunately, both protagonists of this story learn the hard way that simply telling the truth is not enough as they struggle against both Big Tobacco's attempts to silence them and the CBS TV Network's own cowardly complict preference of putting money as a higher priority over the truth.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND - This is based on a true story where Russell Crowe plays Jeffrey Wigand, and he delivers another Academy Award Nominated performance!  Al Pacino is also amazing, but wait till you see the role of Mike Wallace played by Christopher Plummer...amazing. Michael Mann made the film of his career with this fantastic film. All in all, this is a drama filled movie with great performances.
